Best Burger Series v.1 Teakwood's

Dear readers,

I like to eat greasy, fattening food. Because of this lifestyle choice (don’t judge me, I was born this way) I decided it’s high time to do a blog series around some of the best burgers here in the Valley of the Sun.

In order to get this tradition kick started I decided to visit a local eatery and devour a burger that would make an Ethiopian faint, and a Hindu cry. Without further a delay…

Being that I am training for a 10k in early February I have to choose my cheat meal (or indulgence meal as my girlfriend calls them) carefully. I hadn’t been to a Teakwood’s location since 2010, but I did recall they were known for their wings. Naturally, I didn’t order them (the title is best burger series after all) and went straight for the Baby Bleu 1/2lb burger, and believe me it didn’t disappoint.

Per Teakwood’s menu the restaurant (perhaps underwhelmingly) describes the burger as “sautéed mushrooms, onions and bleu cheese crumbles”

“There’s a cow in my stomach trying to punch it’s way out. In a good way."

 

                Upon arrival the burger was moist, juicy and hanging over the bun. I considered none of these bad qualities. The bleu cheese was heapingly-generous. Perhaps even too much to still make the burger appetizing for most. But fret not, I scraped off the excess and had my better half stash it in her purse for home use.

Upon tasting the burger was cooked as ordered (mine are always medium well, not the popular choice but I’ve never been good at that anyway) and delivered at the right temperature. However I’d say that while all those things were great, what made this burger was the mushrooms!

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not one of those odd fellow mushroom lovers, but the mushrooms on the Baby Bleu were prepared just right. They were savory, earthy and just the right amount of moistness.  

All in all, a good visit that left me without any leftovers as I finished the entire burger while at the restaurant. Simply put, if you are in the East part of the valley and cravings for a damn fine burger overtake you, stop in at Teakwood’s and don’t just try a Baby Bleu for yourself, see if I’m wrong!
